Weber, co-founder of Peng & Weber, recently served as a panelist at the 2007 Northwest Regional Immigration Conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), March 1-2, 2007 in Portland, Oregon. A reprint of Mr. Weber's paper "Immigration Without Labor Certification: When, Why, and How to File an EB-1 or NIW Petition" was selected for the conference proceedings. Mr. Weber spoke on the latest issues involving National Interest Waivers, Multinational Executives or Managers, Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, and Outstanding Professors or Researchers. Following his service as Chair (2005-2006), Cletus M. Weber will continue to serve as Immediate Past Chair of the
Washington State Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) for 2006-2007. Mr. Weber has served
on the Executive Committee of the Washington State Chapter of AILA since 2001. As Immediate Past Chair, Mr. Weber
will continue to serve on the Executive Committee, working to enhance transparency between government agencies and
the U.S. employers, U.S. Citizens, and U.S. Permanent Residents who need visas, passports, and other important
services from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS),
the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), the U.S. Department of State (DOS), and related federal agencies.

May 19, 2005 Cletus M. Weber was
elected the Washington State Chapter Chair of the
American Immigration Lawyers Association
(AILA) on May 19, 2005. Mr. Weber has served on the Executive Committee of the
Washington
State Chapter of AILA since 2001. As a Chapter Chair, Mr. Weber also serves as a member of
the National Board of Governors of AILA. Mr. Weber will work to enhance transparency between
government agencies and the Association, and to support the goals and mission of AILA.

Bender's Immigration Bulletin, a leading publication
on immigration issues, published an article written by Cletus Weber
on "Immigration Without Labor Certification: When and Why to File an EB-1 or NIW
Petition " on May 1, 2004. The article compares and
contrasts each of the employment-based, first-preference (EB-1)
categories, including Aliens of Extraordinary Ability (EB-1A),
Outstanding Professors or Researchers (EB-1B), and Multinational
Executives and Managers (EB-1C) as well as the employment-based,
second-preference (EB-2) category of National Interest Waivers (NIW).

(220K) Mar. 6, 2004 Elizabeth Peng to Speak at the University of Kansas School of Law Elizabeth Peng, a founding partner of Peng & Weber, has been invited as a distinguished alumna to speak at the University of Kansas School of Law. Ms. Peng, who graduated with her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1988, will be speaking at the First Annual Diversity Banquet. The Diversity Banquet is being planned by KU's Asian Law Students Association to raise money for the Law School's diversity scholarship fund to help disadvantaged minorities and women attend KU Law School. The conference is scheduled for February 27-28, 2004. Mr. Weber will serve as the moderator of the discussion on "Immigration Without Labor Certification: When, Why, and How to File an EB‑1 or NIW Petition." This panel will cover the latest issues involving achievement-based permanent residency categories for National Interest Waivers, Multinational Executives or Managers, Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, and Outstanding Professors or Researchers. Jun. 1, 2003 Elizabeth Peng and Cletus Weber Admitted to Practice Before the U.S. Supreme Court Elizabeth Peng and Cletus Weber, founding partners of Peng & Weber, were sworn in to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, DC, qualifying them to argue cases before the nation's highest Court. The motion for admission to the Court was made by Stephen McAllister, Dean of the University of Kansas School of Law. Dean McAllister and Ms. Peng are both 1988 graduates of the University of Kansas School of Law and interned at the same law firm in Washington, DC in the late 1980s. Dean McAllister also clerked for former U.S. Supreme Justice Byron White and current Justice Clarence Thomas. The swearing-in ceremony was followed by a private reception at the Supreme Court, at which Ms. Peng, Mr. Weber, and friends from the University of Kansas School of Law had a chance to chat briefly with Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole. Feb.20, 2003 Cletus Weber Speaks at 2003 AILA NW Regional Immigration Seminar Cletus Weber, a founding partner of Peng & Weber, served as discussion leader on two panels at the 2003 Northwest Regional Immigration Conference. The conference was held in Portland, Oregon on February 20-21, 2003, and was jointly sponsored by the Washington and Oregon Chapters of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. The first panel was on "Alternatives to Labor Certification" and covered the achievement-based immigration categories of Aliens of Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Professors or Researchers, and National Interest Waivers. A representative from the Immigration Service's Nebraska Service Center was also on this panel. This provided a good opportunity to examine these issues not only from the perspective of a lawyer who has practiced in this area for more than 10 years, but also from the perspective of the Immigration Service itself. (The Nebraska Service Center is where these petitions are filed if the petitioner is located in the north half of the United States from Washington state to Ohio.) The other panel was on "Law Office Management and Technology," a topic on which Mr. Weber has spoken at national, regional, and local conferences. Jan. 31, 2003 Cletus Weber Invited Speaker at AILA 2003 Midyear CLE Conference in Cancun, Mexico The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) invited Cletus Weber, a founding partner of Peng & Weber, to speak on "The Labor Certification Process and Other Options" for AILA's national 2003 Midyear CLE Conference. The topic of the conference was "Business Immigration: The Challenges of Practicing In Today's Recessionary Environment." The conference was held in Cancun, Mexico on January 31, 2003. The paper Mr. Weber presented (C. Weber & R. Wada, "National Interest Waivers - a Practice Update") was subsequently published by AILA as a book chapter in Homeland Security, Business Immigration: The Challenges of Practicing In Today's Recessionary Environment (AILA 2003).
